Don’t see your park?

Thank you for contacting NYRR Open Run about bringing Open Run to your home park. We hope to expand to 4-6 more New York City parks each year. New Open Run locations will need to have a strong community support, bathrooms, water fountains, and at least one mile of paved course. We appreciate your interest in bringing Open Run to your park and we will be in touch with you soon.

Volunteer with Open Run

Open Run is a community-based program, designed to be led by members of each home park community. We ask that community members volunteer once a quarter, or four times a year. Without volunteer support Open Run would not be possible.

NYRR Open Run is a community-based, volunteer-led running initiative - bringing free weekly runs and walks to local neighborhood parks, across all 5 boroughs of NYC.
Open Run starts at different times in different locations. Check the schedule to see when Open Run starts in your local park.
We are in 16 parks: Inwood Hill Park and Morningside Park in Manhattan, Silver Lake Park and Conference House Park in Staten Island, Astoria Park, Cunningham Park, and Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Canarsie Park, Marine Park, Highland Park and Shore Road Park in Brooklyn, and Crotona Park, St. Mary’s Park, Soundview Park, and Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx.
Absolutely! We welcome all dogs at Open Run, as long as they are on a leash to comply with NYC Parks regulations as well as for the safety of the other participants.
Please! We welcome all ages at Open Run. Please start toward the back and be mindful of other Open Run participants and park users.
We won’t say it is a requirement, but isn’t it just more fun to run with friends? Bring as many friends as you can—all are welcome at Open Run.
Yes, you can.  We ask that you run with you kids if they cannot complete the distance on their own. Important: A parent/guardian must also sign a waiver before any child under age 18 can participate.
You can sign up in advance at openrun.nyrr.org or you can register on site at your park. Signing up online in advance will speed your check-in. Either way, we’ll need a signed waiver before you can participate, but you only need to do this once!
YES, YOU CAN! Email us at OpenRun@nyrr.org and we can look into your local park!
Join your local park’s NYRR Open Run Facebook group and find the volunteer form; complete this form to let the Run Directors know that you want to volunteer one week. Or, just let the Run Directors know on site! Find out more here
NYRR Open Run is a volunteer-led initiative, so we are so glad you are asking this question. We empower volunteers from within the community to lead these weekly runs and walks. For more information on how to get involved please send an email to OpenRun@nyrr.org
No, this is not a +1 opportunity but we have a number of other incentives for volunteers of the Open Run program. Scroll up to the Volunteer section above for an overview of the incentives.
